Located in beautiful Olcott Park, the museum complex consists of the former park superintendent's residence, a Finnish log house and a depression-era tourist cabin. Permanent exhibits depict logging and lumbering industries, Virginia's fires of 1893 and 1900 and the interurban electric railway system. Current temporary exhibits are "Virginia's Jewish Synagogue","Horace Mann School", "Toy Collection by Anthony Addy" and "Virginia Baseball". The museum houses the Virginia Area Historical Society's archival and artifact collections.

This drawing of Jack Dempsey by Duane Bryers is one of 6 images currently on exhibit. The other athletes featured are Jim Thorpe, Red Grange, Babe Ruth, George Mikan and Babe Didrikson. All were done by Bryers for Paul Bonicatto and some have been autographed by the athlete. The pictures were displayed for years in Pauly's Liquor Store in Virginia.
